Debug Focus is a website I made because I a lot of random tech and impulse purchases and often have very strong opinions on them, however I don't always want to flood my youtube channels with reviews of everything that comes through my door, or sometimes I want to go more in-depth with a product without making a 30 minute long video that will cause viewer retention to drop, whatever the case, I have this site now! The Oculus Quest 2 has a vast library of games, at various price-points, and while interests are mostly preference i'm going to be listing my top 10 games for the Oculus Quest 2 to hopefully help new users in the direction of a new game or two, this isnt in a specific order
10. Hand Physics Lab (A$14.99)
HPL is a pretty standard puzzle game with a vast amount of levels, the game is quite simple both gameplay wise and graphically and lacks a story or anything for that matter, however what HPL does is showcase the Quest's built-in hand and finger tracking, and for that reason alone it makes a great party game, shove your headset on your nan, cast to the TV and watch, its a fun half an hour or so that i think makes it worth the price if your looking for something fun for the whole family
9. Superhot VR (A$38.99)
Superhot VR is a unique experience, it follows the same principal as the flat screen game, time moves when you move, to play you have to duck and weave in and out of bullets, puch shoot and stab your way to victory, the game does have some sort of a story and the graphics are simplistic, its a great game but for $40? and with no cross-buy? it makes it hard to recommend for the quest as $40 for a quest game is fairly steep, and die-hard VR enthusiasts will just buy the SteamVR version instead
8. Recroom (Free)
Recroom is a fairly straight forward multiplayer experience, it has a wide range of minigames and a large thriving community thanks to its broad compatibility and crossplay support, recroom also features a desktop and mobile version aswell with full cross-play between, meaning families with 1 VR headset can still all enjoy playing together and just rotating turns between who gets to use the vastly superior version, the free price makes it hard to argue against but the more vocal members of the Recroom community beg to differ, whilst the majority of players are fine there are a very vocal portion of the community who are clearly not mature enough to be on an online social experience, this however comes with any multiplayer game and parents can always opt-out of voice chat in game for their kids
7. Pistol Whip (A$46.99)
Pistol whip makes you feel like john-wick in VR, nuff said, ok but seriously this game is a first person shooter that has amazing sound design that ties in with the gameplay, simply put it feels amazing to play, every shot lines up with whatever song im playing due to the great level design its held back by its $47 pricetag, as with music style games, if you dont like the tracks, your outta luck, and while i love the game's score, you may not, the game has crossbuy though
6. Eleven Table Tennis (A$27.32)
Eleven table tennis is quite literally table tennis in VR, it comes in at just under $30 and is well worth the price, theres a big friendly online community and maybe im just a little bias as i like table tennis, but it is a really fun game, it does have cross-buy
5. Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted (A$46.99)
fnaf is a well known game franchise made popular by youtube personalities and the games jumpscare nature, the first 3 games are recreated entirely in VR, you can also get up close and personal with the animatronics in the parts and services game mode which has you fix and clean the animatronics, the $47 asking price is fairly steep at first glance but considering you get the first 3 fnaf games recreated in full 3D VR, the extra gamemodes, blacklight levels and Cross-buy with the oculus rift PC store, it puts this game on my list of must-have VR games
4. Gorilla Tag (Free)
Gorilla Tag is another one of those free online social games however instead of consisting of a bunch of smaller minigames, Gorilla Tag has the player use their arms to perambulate the environment like that of a Gorilla, avoiding being tagged or to tag others, it is worth noting that you DO need a large playspace for this game, i have seen many a broken controller, hand, TV or window thanks to this game
3. Beat Saber (A$46.99)
Beatsaber is one of the most well known VR games to probably ever exist, its simple, and well executed, its fun and quite addictive, the game could easily be at the top of this list, however the quest 2 version actively discourages custom songs and modding, every update seems to block every single mod, whilst the PC version literally has a folder to drag and drop custom songs too... and for about $5 cheaper... the quest version is stripped down but not in ways that it needs to be, it seems sad to say but its like they blocked custom songs just to sell more of their music packs. However its still a worthwhile game and you can still get hours of fun out of it, on quest or PC
2. The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners (A$49.99)
TWDSS is a must-have VR title, its a pretty much openworld zombie game, in VR! It controls really well and can be scary at times, i havent gotten too far into the story however the parts i have seen are really well done, theres random encounters and factions in game, a multiplayer update would really make this game shine! the game is crossbuy
1. the friends we made along the way
ok for real the number one pick is Resident Evil 4, i dont think a text review can do it justice so im just going to link to a few VR youtuber's videos on the game instead!
